The great Mufti

In Mufti Muhammad Sayeed’s death the country has lost a statesman. As his daughter Mehbooba Mufti prepares to succeed him as chief minister of J&K, it remains to be seen how the PDP’s relations with alliance partner BJP pan out in the state. It is important that the partners remain committed to the common minimum programme that was chalked out during the Mufti’s lifetime. While his death leaves a void, his exemplary life should guide people and politicians alike to maintain the uneasy calm of J&K and provide good governance.
