Now that it is established that the videos on the basis of which JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested were doctored, it will be interesting to see how the government reacts. It is a stark reminder of the dwindling law and order mechanism of the state, where a charge of sedition is slammed on an individual without proper investigation. Add to that the failure of the police to ensure the security of Mr Kumar. It is somewhat ironic that the establishment is trying to safeguard the territorial integrity of India with little regard for an individual’s integrity. It makes me wonder what is happening to the very idea of India.
