Recently a squad of 500 women personnel trained to guard the Sino-Indian border was inducted into the Indo-Tibetan Border Police. This new squad has been readied through 44 weeks of intense training, including in survival at high altitudes. This is a proud moment for the nation as women enter a realm that has been a male preserve. It is time women are appointed to more active (read combat) jobs in the military and paramilitary forces. This will firmly establish that women are second to none.
