Probing the triple murder in Karaya, the detective department (DD) officers of the Kolkata police suspect that Neil Fonseka masterminded and executed the killings of his wife Jessica and their teenaged twin sons, Darren and Joshua, in a pre-planned way.

The 49-year-old interior decorator, who also suffered injuries in his throat and wrist, has been admitted to a private nursing home at Broad Street. His injuries were self-inflicted to keep him above suspicion, according to the DD.

Putting the blame on Jessica of killing their two sons Neil was an attempt to divert attention, sources disclosed. He is likely to be booked in the case and would face murder charge, sources indicated. The investigators are also not ruling the possibility of using chlorophorm by Neil before carrying out the triple murder so the victims could not react when they were being hacked to death.

The motive behind the gruesome crime appears to be his extra-marital affair which Jessica and their two sons objected vehemently several times in the past, said a senior DD official. The investigators are now trying to bridge the gap in Neil’s statement.
