Nawaz Sharif to become ‘voice’ of Kashmiris

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday declared that he will do everything to make the world understand ‘the plight and the legitimate struggle’ of the people of Kashmir.

He was chairing a preparatory meeting on UN General Assembly here. It was attended by several top offcials, including foreign affaits adviser Sartaj Aziz.

The meeting reviewed the agendas to be included in the General Assembly in which Mr Sharif is expected to participate. He said it was an obligation for him as of Pakistan PM to become the voice of Kashmiris who have been oppressed in Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Pakistan warned the United States that its tilt towards India could hamper the global campaign against terror.

An official of the Pakistan foreign ministry said that Washington had been warned against preferring India over Pakistan as Islamabad had worked shoulder-to-shoulder with the West against terror. “We took it as our own fight and now they are telling us that we are selective. Of course, we can’t go inside Afghanistan and India to target the terrorists. We have not become as powerful as the US which uses drone in other countries.”
