The Pakistan police has registered a case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on the complaint of a woman for allegedly talking about sex to a group of male and female party workers ove video link from London.
“Malir police registered a case against Altaf Huss-ain. We will investigate the issue,” a police official sa-id, adding, “20 MQM workers have also been booked under the charges of publicly uttering immodest words.” Mr Hussain had been filmed allegedly explaining intercourse to the MQM workers in Karachi via phone from London.
A woman, who saw the footage of the alleged talk online, alerted the police.
In a statement to the authorities, the woman wrote she was browsing the Internet when she came across the clip of Mr Hussain, addressing a mixed group of workers. He was publicly telling the women about the sexual contact between male and female and his party workers were also repeating his words.
“It seemed he was intoxicated,” she claimed.
The police said other MQM leaders, including members of the Parlia-ment and the party’s candidate for Karachi mayor, were facing investigation over allegations such as organising the meeting and repeating Mr Hussain’s words.
“MQM is a law-abiding party which believes in peaceful struggle and these kinds of cases are against the Constitution. We will face it in the court,” said Aminul Haq, a spokesman for MQM, who was also named in the case.
