Pakistan’s former Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan is all set to become the next president of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK).
Mr Khan, a career diplomat, who has served as Pakistan’s permanent representative to United Nations Office at Geneva, the country’s ambassador to China and permanent representative to the United Nations, New York is scheduled to be elected as 23rd president of what is officially called as “Azad Jammu and Kashmir” on August 16.
Reports reaching here from Muzaffarabad said that Mr Khan, who was born in Rawlakot area of the PoK, has vowed to “highlight the Kashmir cause and the atrocities being perpetuated on fellow Kashmiris, particularly during the ongoing unrest in the Indian held Kashmir” after taking up the assignment.
These reports said that Mr. Khan who has never taken part in any election in PoK would be elected as its president by the recently-elected 55 members of the “AJK Assembly.”
