The Delhi police has registered a case of cheating and forge-ry on the request of a parliamentarian committee against some unknown persons who after allegedly forging the letterhead of BJP MP Yogi Adityanath sent it to a few government units such as GAIL for financial gain. The miscreants had al-so created a fake email id of the BJP MP and had been misusing it.

A police official close to the investigation said that the letterhead of joint committee of salaries and allowances of members of Parli-ament was forged and was sent to the CMD of Power Grid Corporation of India. The accused also sent a few emails to GAIL and ONGC.

“It looked like the letterhead of BJP MP Yogi Adityanath. In the letter the accused had urged the CMD of PGCI to give advertisement to a private firm. The forged letterhead bearing forged signature of the BJP MP was also sent to GAIL and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation for financial gain. However, when Mr Yogi was contacted by the recipients of the letter, he denied sending such a letter,” the source said. The accused also sent a few emails to these government units.

The source said that the letterheads of MPs are in green colour and it cannot be changed. However, letterheads sent by miscreants were of red colour. The parliament committee has also verified that these letterheads had nothing to do with them and were forged. “It was clear from the office of Yogi Adityanath that his signature was also forged on each letterhead. It was also learnt that he was not using the email id through which the mails were sent,” the police source said.

The police are now probing how many emails were sent through that email ids and who are the recipients. The cops are also probing whether accused had succeeded in cheating any of the government units or any private firm by communicating with fake email id of the MP. The source said a case of cheating, forgery; impersonation read with sections of information and technology was lodged with the police. “The accused are still yet to be identified. A team has been formed to look after the matter carefully as the matter is related to the forged letter head of parliamentary committee,” the source said.
