TRS win Medak bypolls, on victory path in Narayankhed
TRS won the Medak bypolls by 53,600 votes by defeating Congress candidate Sanjeeva Reddy.
TRS won the Medak bypolls by 53,600 votes by defeating Congress candidate Sanjeeva Reddy.
TRS won the bypoll by 53,600 votes in Telangana's Medak district as Bhupal Reddy looked set to win the Narayankhed Assembly bypoll after he established a lead over Congress rival Sanjeeva Reddy, as counting of votes began on Tuesday.
The bye-election was necessitated due to the death of Sanjeeva Reddy's father and sitting Congress MLA Krishna Reddy.
In the recent GHMC elections, the results were more favourable to the TRS than even the exit poll predictions. In 2014 Assembly elections, Congress candidate Patlolla Kista Reddy polled 62,347 votes while his TRS rival Mahareddy Bhupal Reddy got 47,601 votes. More than 81 per cent polling was recorded in the by-election held on Saturday.
Incidentally, the TRS won the bypolls held earlier for Medak and Warangal Lok Sabha seats, both of which held by it.
If TRS wins the Narayankhed Assembly seat, it would be the first time the ruling party would defeat the Congress in a seat held by the main Opposition party.
