Swachchh question bemuses aspirants

A question on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “pet” scheme “Swachchh Bharat” campaign asked in this year’s Madhya Pradesh Public Service (MPPSC) examination has left candidates bemused. While many state civil service aspirants were clueless as to which one of the multiple answer options given for the question in the MPPSC paper should be ticked, some wondered if the answer “lies” in the question itself.

The question read, “The Swachchh Bharat campaign led by Hon Prime Minister has a great impact on the society because 1) People understood the importance of cleanliness, and 2) People across the country like the campaign.

The multiple choice answers were: a) Assumption 1 is strong; b) Assumption 2 is strong; 3) Both assumptions are strong; and d) Neither of the assumptions are strong. “I wonder if it is a question to test one’s general knowledge or a public relations exercise to announce ‘Swachchh Bharat’ campaign a huge success in the country,” a candidate remarked.
