Subramanian Swamy seeks daily hearing in SC on Ayodhya dispute
A case for day-to-day hearing in the Supreme Court on the Ayodhya dispute was made by BJP member Subramanian Swamy on Monday.
A case for day-to-day hearing in the Supreme Court on the Ayodhya dispute was made by BJP member Subramanian Swamy on Monday. The former Union minister also sought discussion on the matter in the Rajya Sabha.
Mr Swamy said it is very necessary to have a discussion in the House on an “urgent developing issue” of building a Ram temple in Ayodhya. “In the manifesto of BJP, we had made a solemn assurance that as per legal methods, and that is through courts, we will find a solution. And this is now widely accepted by all parties,” he said, raising the matter during the Zero Hour. The matter is currently pending in the Supreme Court of India.
The BJP leader also said that all parties had “agreed” that there should be day-to-day hearing on the issue to find a solution. “Therefore, I urge, through you, the government to see that their law officers go to the Supreme Court as they did in the high court and say that this matter should be expeditiously disposed of and day-to-day hearing takes place,” he said. The BJP leader demanded that the issue “should be discussed threadbare in the House so that harmony can be restored in the country”.
Meanwhile, Congress MPs in the Upper House alleged that the government was misleading Par-liament on the issue of 39 Indian youth going missing in Iraq two years ago.
Pratap Singh Bajwa (Congress) charged external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj with having “misled Parliament and the nation” on the issue.
