The Samajwadi Party will embark on a 10-day cycle yatra across the state from April 18 to mobilise its cadres ahead of the UP Assembly elections.
The purpose of the yatra is to reach out to every nook and corner of the village and inform people about the welfare schemes launched by the Akhilesh government.
“The yatra will not remain a photo opportunity. The Samajwadi workers in groups will cycle down to five or more village in a day, interact with people, also gather important feedback and create awareness about the developmental work done by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. We would prefer if the Samajwadis workers on the cycle yatra make a nigh halt in one of the villages,” said UP minister and party general secretary Arvind Singh Gope.
The party is obviously intensifying its campaign for creating awareness among the masses about the contribution made by the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav during the past four years.
The 10-day cycle yatra is designed to cover all the 75 districts of the state and comes a month after the Samajwadis Vikas Diwas that was held in every district in March to mark four years of the Akhilesh government.
Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has asked the office-bearers of the party, MPs, former MPs, MLAs, former MLAs, chairman of district panchayats and other leaders to flag off the cycle yatra in their respective districts and Assembly constituencies.
Mr Gope said, “The cycle yatra would be taken out in each Assembly constituency that has been divided into 10 zones and for each zone, a team of 15 party workers on cycles will cover 5-7 villages every day. The team will also be provided with the publicity material by the party. The team will devote at least one hour in each village and will also stay in one village on the last day of the yatra.”
The minister added that the state government during the last four years had launched several development and welfare schemes for all the sections of the society and the party wants to publicise its achievements.
It may be recalled that in December last year, the Samajwadi Party had launched a campaign called ‘Gaon Gaon Akhilesh’ to reach out into the rural interiors. The campaign with the LED vans equipped with TV screens, was launched to propagate the achievements of the Akhilesh Yadav government to every nook and corner of the state Besides publicizing the works of the government, through video shows, a team of party workers will also record complaints, aspirations and suggestions of the masses for redressal of their grievances and local development.
