Union human resources development minister Smriti Irani seems determined to demolish the Congress in Amethi. Despite having lost the last Lok Sabha elections from Amethi, Ms Irani continues to “nurture” the constituency and remain connected with its people. Ms Irani will now be visiting Amethi over the weekend and the main agenda of her visit will be an interaction with party workers and the local people. On the first day of her visit, she will attend a “khichdi bhoj” in Tiloi where she will meet party workers and boost their confidence for the upcoming Assembly elections in 2017. “She will also meet the common people of Amethi and hear their problems. She will discuss the political situation with party workers and inform them of the plans that she has for the development of Amethi which has remained steeped in backwardness even though it has been represented by Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi”, said a BJP leader.

The minister will also visit the central school at BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited), Jagdishpur and RGIIIT (Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology) Tikarmafi at Amethi during her visit. Ms Irani will address party activists at Gauriganj followed by inauguration of smart classes in Navoday Vidyalaya at Gauriganj.

BJP district president Durgesh Tripathi said, “This time we are confident of removing all traces of the Congress that remain in Amethi and we are aiming to win all seats in the assembly elections. Ms Smriti Irani has been working for the people here even though she lost the elections and she has created a great deal of goodwill for herself”.
