While Pakistan may rake up the 2007 Samjhauta Express blasts trial to corner India at the NSA-level talks, the government has told Parliament it has no intention of challenging the bail granted by the Punjab and Haryana high court to Swami Assemanand, an accused in the case.
The Centre said the National Investigation Agency found no grounds to challenge it.
The issue could be raised by Pakistan at the NSA talks: Islamabad has been demanding to know what action has being taken in the Samjhauta trial in all exchanges with India.
Minister of state for home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that the high court had granted conditional bail to Naba Kumar Sarkar alias Aseemanand on August 28, 2014.
A certified copy of this order was issued only on May 1, 2015.
Aseemanand, however, is still in jail as he did not comply with some conditions of the bail order.
