Samajwadi Party leader abuses babus over phone, stirs outrage

The ruling Samajwadi Party suffered another dent to its image on Tuesday when its MoS Kuldeep Ujjawal was caught abusing the district magistrate, chief development officer and district panchayati raj officer (DPRO) in Baghpat during a telephonic conversation.

As per the recording of the conversation, which has now gone viral, the leader who is also the party candidate in Baghpat for the Assembly polls, is heard rebuking the officer for not accepting his recommendations.

Talking to DPRO Sarvesh Pandey, who apparently recorded the conversation, the SP leader is heard threatening him with dire consequences, making abusive references and even casteist remarks against the district magistrate Hriday Shankar Tiwari.

The SP leader can be heard saying, “Tumhe auqat dikha donga—mujhe jaante nahin ho. Main Samajwadi Party ka candidate hoon.” (I will show you your position, you don’t know who I am. I am a SP candidate.)

The audio clipping has been played on all local news channel throughout Tuesday. However, there has been no reaction from the SP or Mr Ujjawal.
