Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik has sent a report to President Pranab Mukherjee on the Dadri Mathura and Kairana incidents.

The report was sent on Saturday but the governor refused to divulge any details of the report.

“The chief minister, Mr Akhilesh Yadav, had sent me three reports on Dadri, Mathura and Kairana and after studying the same, I have sent my report to the President. I cannot divulge any details since the issues are extremely sensitive in nature,” he told reporters.

The governor, it may be recalled, had asked the Akhilesh government last month to come out with a white paper on government land that has been encroached in various parts of the state.

The Mathura clashes on June 2 took place when the police tried to clear the Jawahar Bagh that had been encroached upon by a so-called cult leader Ram Vraksh Yadav. Twenty nine people, including two police officials were killed in the clashes since the squatters possessed firearms which they used against the police team.

The Kairana issue turned into a major controversy last month when BJP MP Hukum Singh released a list of 346 Hindu families who had reportedly migrated from the town. Mr Singh later retracted his statement and said that the issue was not communal but the migration was due to the poor law and order situation.

The Dadri incident had taken place in September last year when one Mohd Ikhlaq was lynched by a mob for allegedly consuming and storing in his house.
