Lucknow: The Congress has said that the alleged murder of an IAS officer in Lucknow was a pointer to the deteriorating law and order in Uttar Pradesh.

Reacting to the Yogi government’s allegation that the deceased IAS officer, Anurag Tiwari, belonged to Karnataka cadre, where the Congress was in power, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said that if the officer was actually murdered, as his family has alleged, it shows that the law and order in Karnataka is so good that the assailants had to come to UP to eliminate the officer.

“It is definitely an incident that will make people believe that there is no law and order left in the state. People have lost its faith in this government,” he said.

Mr Ajay Kumar Lallu, leader of the Congress legislature party said on Friday that the death of Anurag Tiwari exposed the tall claims of the state government over law and order.

“It has been three days since the officer was found dead, but the police has not made any headway in investigations yet. If this is the police attitude in the case of an IAS officer, what can eb said about the common man,” he said.
