Lucknow: The Samajwadi Secular Morcha (SSM) leader Shivpal Yadav is in no mood to mend ties with his estranged nephew and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav.

Shivpal Yadav has announced that SSM would field candidates on all seats except Mainpuri from where Mulayam Singh Yadav will be contesting.

“We will put up candidates on all seats including Kannauj, Badaun and Firozabad,” he said.

It is noteworthy that Akhilesh Yadav has announced that he will contest from Kannauj while the sitting MP from Badaun is Dharmendra Yadav. In Firozabad, the sitting MP is Akshay Yadav, son of SP MP Prof Ram Gopal Yadav.

The SSM leader said that now that he had taken a decision, there was no question of succumbing to family pressure for reconciliation. “I have waited long enough but when things reached a point of no return, I took the decision,” he said.

While Shivpal Yadav has already said that he is ready for an alliance with like-minded parties, however SSM is bound to create problems for Akhilesh Yadav whether it remains inside or outside the alliance.

Shivpal Yadav is familiar with the Samajwadi organisation and most of the office bearers have been groomed by him. Besides, SP and the Samajwadi Secular Morcha share the same vote bank of Yadavs and Muslims and whatever strides the Morcha takes, it will affect the Samajwadi Party.
