Photos of Mahatma Gandhi statue with SP cap and flag goes viral in UP

Mahatma Gandhi has been turned into a Samajwadi Party worker in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to sources, some unidentified elements put a party cap on the statue of the Father of the Nation installed in the Gandhi Park in Moradabad, and also wrapped a party flag around the statue.

Photographs of the statue have already gone viral on the social media.

As soon as the district officials learnt of this, they immediately got the cap and the flag removed.

Officials are now trying to identify persons responsible for this “mischief.”

The incident took place after the campaigning for the mayoral by-elections came to a halt.

Local Samajwadi Party leaders, however, denied that this was a handiwork of party workers.

District SP president Haji Ikram Qureshi said, “The very fact that a cap and flag was put on the Mahatma Gandhi’s statue and photographs were taken and uploaded on the social media, shows that this is a conspiracy to malign the party.”
