The Congress leadership here has put in place a plan to nip in bud any attempt by dissidents to split the party in Chhattisgarh in the wake of the party’s decision to show the door to former chief minister Ajit Jogi and his son Amit, a legislator, for allegedly fixing the Antagarh Assembly byelections in 2014.

The state party leadership is toying with the idea of launching a “mass contract programme” apparently to approach “each and every” worker and leader, said to be Jogi followers, to stop them from leaving the Congress in support of their political mentor. “We will launch a padayatra around the state to meet the people and try to solve their problems. The padayatra will kick off from Antagarh Assembly constituency in Bastar,” Chhattisgarh PCC president Bhupesh Baghel said.
