Non-IAS bureaucrat also sought pay parity

A confederation representing non-IAS Group A bureaucrats had also petitioned the Seventh Pay Commission seeking parity with IAS officers. The pay panel was divided on the issue of the financial and career-related edge to IAS officers in its report submitted to the government in November.

The Cabinet Secretary said those officers who completed a minimum of 30 years of service are eligible for empanelment as secretary, while for additional secretary the requirement is a minimum 25 years of service.

All concerned ministries and cadre-controlling authorities have been asked to send their recommendations by February 29.
