Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar extended his support to the Congress on the issue of the National Herald case, saying there is no space for vendetta in politics. He also stated that while his party supports the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the government needs to win over the Opposition, including the Congress, to get the legislation passed in Parliament.

In the national capital to attend the wedding function of Union finance minister Arun Jaitley’s daughter, Mr Kumar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. Later, he called on President Pranab Mukherjee.

Mr Kumar also met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and her son, Rahul Gandhi, separately. He attended the 75th birthday celebrations of NCP chief Sharad Pawar as well.

Reiterating his support to the GST Bill, Mr Kumar told reporters outside Parliament, “We are in favour of the GST Bill. We support it.” He extended support to Congress MPs over the National Herald case.

“When Congress is saying something, then it must be well thought out. I have no details. But when Congress is saying so, it must have some meaning, otherwise why will the party say so,” Mr Kumar said.
