It could be seen as a step towards the revival of the Third Front when Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav joins hands with CPM leader Prakash Karat at a rally in Delhi on October 30. Samajwadi president Mulayam Singh Yadav, on Saturday, made this announcement while addressing a function in Etawah. Mr Yadav had met Mr Prakash Karat in Delhi three days ago which indicates that the ties between SP and the Left had begun to thaw. He said that people had tired of Congress and BJP and the prospects of the Third Front were getting brighter by the day. The Samajwadi Party, he said, would emerge as the biggest constituent of the Third Front. Mr Yadav advised chief minister Akhilesh Yadav to deal very firmly with communal forces and not to be afraid of criticism. “In my regime, I have dealt with sternly with such forces that want to divide society and you must do the same without bothering about who says what,” he said. Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party cancelled its Mainpuri rally, scheduled to be held on Saturday without any apparent reason. Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mr Akhilesh Yadav instead participated in a tree plantation programme in the proposed Lion Safari in Etawah. “Karat has invited me to attend the meeting at Talkatora in Delhi on October 30. I will attend it. Some other big leaders will also attend the meeting, but I will not take their names,” Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav said.
