‘Mukul summons a BJP conspiracy’
TMC: CBI BJP frontal office
TMC: CBI BJP frontal office
Stung by the CBI summons to Mukul Roy in connection with multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam, Trinamul Congress cried foul and accused the Narendra Modi government at the Centre of misusing the Central investigating agency for political vendetta. Claiming that the summoning of Mr Roy was a BJP conspiracy to get electoral mileage in the coming Lok Sabha and Assembly bypolls and 100 civic body polls, party secretary general Partha Chatterjee warned that the party workers would launch sustained agitation in the districts. His reaction betrayed the ruling party’s panic. Earlier, it was only after transport minister Madan Mitra’s arrest that Trinamul Congress had hit the streets.
Attacking the BJP, Mr Chatterjee said that the CBI has become a frontal office for the BJP. Lashing out at BJP national secretary and in-charge of Bengal Siddharth Nath Singh, Trinamul Congress secretary general said, “How is it possible that much before CBI officially summoning Roy, he came to know about it.”
It may be noted that during a recent programme in the city, Mr Singh had predicted that 2015 would be it known as “Bhag Mukul Bhag”.
