Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday lashed out at the Congress, saying it was making a “mockery of democracy” and had decided to “destroy” the country as it couldn’t reconcile to its defeat in last year’s Lok Sabha polls.
“Those who have been defeated and sent home are saying as we have been destroyed, we will destroy you also, whatever happens to the country,” he said after unveiling a statue of former Kerala CM R. Sankar, who hailed from the backward Ezhava community and belonged to the Congress.
“They have ignored the speech by President Pranab Mukherjee in Kolkata about the three Ds through which Parliament functions — debate, dissent and decision. They are resorting now to three Ds of disrupt, destroy and demolish. The BJP-led government will go on the path shown by the President along with a fourth D — development,” Mr Modi said. “They have swallowed the 3 Ds. They like only one D, which is destruct — disrupt, destruct, demolish,” he added.
