: Responding to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah's recent comment that he would eat beef if he desired, a local BJP leader has threatened to behead the Conrgess politician if he consumes beef.

Accusing him of behaving like a dictator, SN Channabasappa, ex city Municipal Councillor of Shivamogga, said in a public gathering that the Chief Minister has insulted the sentiments of the Hindus in Karnataka.

Daring Siddarmiah, Channabasappa said, \"let him eat beef at the Gopi circle (Shivamogga). If he does, he will be beheaded. We won't think twice about that.\"

As the beef debate raged, Siddramiah had said on Monday, \"Who are they (BJP leaders) to stop me or force their choice on me I have not eaten beef so far, but I am free to eat whenever and whatever I like. This is my fundamental right guaranteed under the Constitution.”

Siddaramaiah's statement assumes significance in the wake of BJP leaders warning that they would launch a state-wide agitation against him and are mulling legal action against him on his statement.
