Demanding a judicial inquiry into the reports of rape of several women in Haryana during the Jat agitation, the Congress’ Kumari Selja on Tuesday alleged that “jungle raj” was prevailing in the BJP-ruled Haryana. Raising the issue during the Zero Hour in Rajya Sabha, the former Union minister said the Manohar Lal Khattar government in the state has been a “mute spectator” to the largescale violence during the agitation in the state. On the reported charges of rape and molestation by Jat quota agitators near Murthal town, Ms Selja said the state government’s inquiry team cannot be trusted and demanded that the high court should inquire into it. The Haryana government has set up a three-member team of women police officers to look into the alleged incidents of rape and molestation of several women by Jat protesters. Congress member Pramod Tiwari also demanded a fair probe into the rape and molestation allegations. Earlier, CPI(M)’s T.K. Rangarajan condemned the sedition case against party leader Sitaram Yechury, CPI leader D. Raja and others.
