BJP MP: Will expose ‘impostor’

Even while the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi continues to target finance minister Arun Jaitley over the alleged Delhi District Cricket Association corruption, the BJP MP and former cricketer Kirti Azad vowed to “expose biggest ever” scam in the sporting body on Sunday.

The BJP is apparently trying to dissuade him from helping Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to attack Mr Jaitely.

“I will expose biggest DDCA corruption and unmask the impostor tomorrow at a press conference,” Mr Azad tweeted on Saturday. He also took potshots at Mr Jaitley for purportedly saying that every political party has a Trojan horse in an oblique reference to Mr Azad. “Not a Trojan horse but Achilles heel; wait till I unmask the behroopiya (impostor),” Mr Azad said in a tweet. In another tweet, he said: “ (I) will expose biggest DDCA corruption with audio-visual tomorrow at 4pm.”

The BJP MP from Darbhanga also quoted a poem of BJP stalwart Atal Behari Vajpayee to suggest that he will carry on and not “concede” defeat. Incidentally, BJP chief Amit Shah had called Mr Azad on Friday to impress upon him that he should not go ahead with his charges at a time when Opposition parties, especially the AAP, have gone after Mr Jaitley over the alleged corruption in DDCA when he headed the cricket body.

BJP leader Ram Lal had also met Mr Azad in this context.

However, Mr Azad, who is son of former chief minister of Bihar and a Congress leader late Bhagwat Jha Azad, remained unfazed. After the meeting with Ram Lal, he had tweeted to say that his followers should not pay heed to rumours doing rounds that he had been “gagged”.

Incidentally, the three-time MP has been a known detractor of Mr Jaitley over his stewardship of DDCA. Along with former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi, Mr Azad has been spearheading campaign against alleged corruption in the DDCA.
