Kochi
: Kerala police on Wednesday arrested the organisers of the “Kiss of Love” campaign, Rahul Pashupalan and his wife Resmi R Nair, along with six others according to a television report.
The arrests were made by the Cyber Cell of Kerala Police in connection with an online paedophilia racket that came to fore while the cyber cell was investigating a Facebook page.
The Facebook page called 'Kochu Sundarikal', which when translated to English literally means ‘young beauties’, allegedly promoted paedophilia.
According to the report, the couple were allegedly helping a gang that ran a sex racket of providing children to paedophiles. The police also arrested a local gangster called Akbar in the case.
Rahul Pashupalan and Resmi R Nair were key organisers of the ‘Kiss of Love’ campaign in Kerala, which was a protest against moral policing in the state. The campaign had caught nation-wide attention and soon spread to other major cities in the country.
The campaign started after an irate mob attacked a coffee shop in Kozhikode to condemn public display of affection by couples visiting the café, terming such behaviour ‘immoral’ and against the culture of India.
