Hyderabad scholar death: Ram Vilas Paswan, BJP leader ask for CBI probe

The Hyderabad dalit scholar’s suicide continued to trouble the BJP with its NDA ally, Ram Vilas Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party, on Thursday demanding an “independent probe by the CBI or some other agency”.

BJP national executive member Sanjay Paswan sought a CBI inquiry and accused Union ministers Smriti Irani and Bandaru Dattatreya of showing “grave insensitivity” on the issue. Mr Paswan said Ms Irani had “mishandled” the matter and said “the least” the government could do was to sack the university vice-chancellor. He also urged the Prime Minister to make a statement on the issue.
