: A National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer was shot dead by unknown gunmen on Sunday morning, while he was returning home after attending a wedding in Bijnor.
The officer has been identified as Tanzil Ahmed, deputy superintendent of police with the NIA. He and his wife were travelling in a WagonR, when unidentified men riding a motorcycle shot the couple and fled from the scene.
\"He was attending his niece's marriage. He was with his wife and two children. Two bike-borne assailants shot fire at them. They were referred to the Cosmos hospital,\" Station House Officer Rajkumar said.
While Tanzil succumbed to his injuries, his wife is in critical condition and has been admitted to a hospital in Noida.
Tanzil’s body has been kept in a Moradabad hospital and NIA and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) teams have reached there to carry out their investigation into the crime.
