Sishir Gamang, son of former Orissa chief minister Giridhar Gamang, on Saturday filed a police complaint, accusing his wife of harassing and mentally torturing their minor son and also fleeing with another man after stealing cash and ornaments.

At a press conference Saturday, Mr Gamang said that his wife Monica, whom he had married in 2003 and divorced in 2012 only to marry her again two years later, mentally and physically tortured their 10-year-old son. He also alleged that Monica fled with `5 lakh cash and ornaments worth `2.3 crore.

Mr Gamang alleged that Ms Monica was involved in an extra-marital affair with one Gaurav Barar and has also married him without his (Mr Gamang’s) knowledge.

Mr Gamang and Ms Monica had remarried in 2014 when their families learnt of their divorce that had taken place in 2012.

He, however, alleged that a year after their re-marriage in 2014, Ms Monica started torturing him and their 10-year-old son, adding, it was around this time he learnt about her extra-marital affair.

“The torture of my son started from the age of 9. Monica’s behavior suddenly changed after remarriage but I came to know about the truth much later. I want justice for my son,” he said. He added that he had filed a police with Bhubaneswar police demanding security for himself and his son.

Reacting to Mr Gamang’s allegations, Ms Monica said: “We have been divorced for the past two years. Following the divorce, I married someone else. I have all the proof and will present it before the court. The truth will come out after the police have completed its investigation (into the complaint).”
