The deaths of two young school students sparked a row in Nalanda, Bihar. Villagers, alleging the involvement of a school director, on Sunday vandalised the premises of DPS School and lynched the school director.

A source said the villagers went on the rampage after the bodies of two DPS students were fished out of a pond close to the school. The angry mob later dragged the school director out of the school and lynched him in full public view, accusing him of killing the two students. “The director had beaten the boys, due to which they died, and in order to save himself he threw their bodies into a nearby pond,” the angry villager said. According to the Nalanda police, the angry mob ransacked the school premises and even torched several parts of the school using a cooking-gas cylinder. “Six policemen who were trying to stop the angry villagers sustained injuries in the incident,” one of the policemen said.

The school director, before succumbing to his injuries, in his statement denied all allegations and said the two students had left the school premises without informing the authorities, following which the school authorities had launched a massive search within and outside the school campus.

The situation is very tense and the police is trying to pacify the angry villagers. The police said they have already begun a preliminary investigation and will intensify their probe after the post-mortem examination reports come in.
