Dayashankar steps up his campaign, BJP in a fix
Expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh is fast becoming the proverbial thorn in the flesh for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.
Expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh is fast becoming the proverbial thorn in the flesh for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.
The expelled leader is emerging as a rallying point for Thakurs in the state and though he lacks the political charisma of Thakur leaders like Raghuraj Pratap Singh, his continued attacks on BSP president Mayawati is making him popular in his community.
Mr Singh is now planning to hold a series of “Kshatriya sammelans” across the state to invoke the “self respect and pride” of the Thakur community.
The first of these meetings will be held in Jhansi in October, and thereafter, one will be held every fortnight. Mr Singh and his supporters are busy contacting Thakurs in every district to enlist their support.
The All India Kshatriya Mahasabha already came out in his support, and the lack of action by the Akhilesh Yadav government against BSP leaders who badmouthed Mr Singh’s minor daughter is garnering sympathy for the expelled leader.
