Leprosy patient, 30, raped in UP hospital

The victim belongs to Ranchi in Jharkhand and had been admitted by the government railway police, hospital sources said.

Police sources said that the victim informed a staff nurse about the incident on Saturday morning after which the police was informed.

Lucknow: A 30-year-old patient, suffering from severe leprosy, was allegedly raped by a male nurse in a government hospital in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh.

The woman, admitted in an isolation ward of the district hospital, was allegedly raped by male nurse Pushkar Kumar on Friday night, SP Umesh Kumar Singh said, adding that the accused is now absconding.

Police sources said that the victim informed a staff nurse about the incident on Saturday morning after which the police was informed.

After taking her statement, the woman has been sent for medical examination.

An FIR has been lodged and further investigations will be done after the medical report comes in.

The accused Pushkar had been appointed in the hospital under outsourcing of staff.
