Lucknow: A brother and sister duo has been arrested in Bulandshahr district for allegedly duping wealthy families on the pretext of marriage.

Around Rs 60,000 cash, jewellery, 17 mobile phones and two laptops have been recovered from them.

The case seems a straight life from Bollywood films like Dolly ki Doli and Looteri Dulhan. According to police reports, the brother and sister would shortlist matrimonial ads from seemingly wealthy families and the brother Pramod would approach the groom’s family   posing as the girl Rani’s father.

After fixing a meeting with the family, he would send another man with the girl, Rani, who would pose as her brother for the ring ceremony.

They would then coax the groom’s family to shop for the bride and then vanish with the jewels and clothes.
