2 men awarded death sentence for minor’s rape

Bhopal: A fast-track court in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday sentenced two youth to death for raping a minor girl a couple of months ago.

The fast-track court judge, Nisha Gupta, awarded death sentence to the two accused, Irfan (20) and Asif (24), after convicting them for the rape and attempt to murder of a 7-year-old girl on June 26 in the area, local public prosecutor BS Thakur said.

The girl was abducted near her school in Mandsaur on June 26. She was taken to a secluded area in the outskirts of the town, where she was brutally gang raped.

The accused duo then slit her throat after torturing her and fled the spot thinking that she was dead.

She was left bleeding for the whole night until spotted by a local.

Relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act were invoked against the accused.
