15 held for sedition for celebrating Pak’s victory

Bhopal: As many as 15 people were arrested in Madhya Pradesh’s Mohad village, in Burhanpur district, on charges of sedition for celebrating Pakistan’s victory in the Champions Trophy final held on Sunday.

According to Indore inspector general of police Ajey Sharma, the police action followed a complaint filed by a local alleging that some youngsters were celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India by bursting crackers and distributing sweets at places close to homes of Hindus.

It was feared that a communal clash might erupt as tempers were already running high because the match was not going India’s way, police said.
