Bhubaneswar: In a barbaric act, a four-year-old girl was raped after being lured with chocolates by a youth at Hatasahi village under the Nilagirli police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district. Worse still, her private parts were mutilated by the perpetrator.

Reports on Sunday said the victim was admitted to a hospital in Nilagiri in Balasore district for treatment.

The local police has launched a probe to nab the accused following a written complaint filed by the victim’s family.

According to reports, the incident occurred at Hata Sahi under the Nilagiri police limits on April 13.

The victim’s father said in his complaint that the accused, Nityachandan Jena alias Jiban (24), had called the girl to his home alluring her with chocolates while she was playing on the road in front of her house. He then raped the girl in his home and mutilated her private parts.

The victim told everything about the incident to her mother.

The victim’s father said he told Jiban’s father, Rabindra Jena, about the incident. Rabindra requested us at a village meeting to solve the issue and assured that he would bear the medical expenses for the treatment of my daughter.

“However, later, he backtracked and instead threatened to kill me when I said I would approach the police for justice,” the girl’s father said in the complaint.

“Following the complaint, the police is investigating the matter. We are looking for the accused who is absconding now,” said Ramesh Singh, inspector of the Nilagiri police station.
