The home ministry will soon set up a state-of-the-art integrated control centre to deal with emergency situations like natural calamities, terror attacks and major accidents. The centre will co-ordinate with agencies concerned to improve the reaction time in rushing reinforcements to the affected areas.
A control room already operates in the home ministry and the same would now be upgraded to a hi-tech integrated control center, which will also provide real-time information to the agencies.
The centre would also be connected to satellite to get ground reports. Experts in different fields would be deployed on the round-the-clock duty once it is operationalised. Experts from different fields, working with the Army, Navy, and Air Force will also be roped in.
With the home secretary giving an in-principle approval, the implementation of the project is expected to start soon. The centre will also be connected to data from various sources, including Indian meteorology department, remote sensing centre and foreign agencies.
