The Congress on Friday asked why the BJP is silent on the migration of farmers in Bundelkhand and on the issue of cane farmers who are not getting their money and jobless youth in Uttar Pradesh, but making migration in Kairana a big issue to polarise the people on communal lines.

While addressing a press conference, AICC spokesperson R.P.N. Singh drew attention to what Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised when the BJP came to power at the Centre two years ago.

“At that time the PM made it clear that development and governance will be top on his agenda. But the statements of BJP leaders, ministers and MPs in the last two years made it clear that the intention is to divert the attention from real issues. This also reflects the real intention of the government,” he said.

“Whenever the PM goes abroad he says I am the PM of 125 crore people, but then why his party takes up the issues of just one section and makes migration in Kairana a big issue ” Mr Singh asked.

He said, “Today, terrorism and terrorist activities are being doctored, tutored and tuition is being given so that the Congress can be seen in bad light but the truth shall come out. This is one of the most sinister designs of the BJP,” he said.

In Lucknow, the CLP leadr Pradip Mathur rubbished reports of Hindu migration from

Kairana while accusing the BJP of “vitiating the atmosphere” in UP to “polarise votes” ahead of the 2017 Assembly elections in the state.

He said a three-member team of Congress legislators will go to Kairana in Shamli district of western UP in “a couple of days” and submit a report after which the party will chalk out its future course of action.

“As per reports of our district and city units, there is no migration. BJP is out to vitiate the atmosphere for polarising votes at the behest of their top leadership,” Mr Mathur said.
