After CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and Lok Sabha MP Mohammad Salim, now party politburo member Prakash Karat raised speculation about forging an alliance with the Congress, saying “there is nothing called yes or no in politics.”

Asserting that “flexibility in tactics” will be always there if such political situation arises, Mr Karat said the party’s tactical electoral line, whether to go with the Congress for the upcoming Assembly election in Bengal, would be clear in next four to six weeks when the party would discuss the issue after its on-going plenum. On the possibility of an alliance with the Congress, he said, “In Bengal, popular mood is building up that the Trinamul Congress government must be ousted.”
