The Congress Wednesday expelled former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi’s son Amit Jogi and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to do the same against state CM Raman Singh. The Congress also dropped hints that Mr Ajit Jogi too would face similar action soon. This step has come in the backdrop of the release of an audiotape on the “fixing” of an Assembly byel-ection in the state in 2014.
The Congress alleged the “Chhattisgarh issue revolves around monetary allurement offered by BJP chief minister Raman Singh to Congress candidates for withdrawing (their) candidatures”. Its statement said: “The Congress has taken action against one of its leaders. Will Modiji show the courage of his convictions by seeking Raman Singh’s resignation or sacking him ” party spokesman Randeep Surjewala asked. He reiterated the Congress’ demand for a thorough probe by a Supreme Court judge or by an SIT monitored by the Supreme Court.
