CBSE denies maths question paper leak
The CBSE on Wednesday termed as “baseless” repor-ts about question paper leak of Class 12 maths examination.
The CBSE on Wednesday termed as “baseless” repor-ts about question paper leak of Class 12 maths examination.
“The CBSE would like to assert that the reports are baseless. There has been no such leakage of question paper of any kind but only two questions matched with only one question paper set. But that is a co-incidence as these two questions are also from the NCERT textbook,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, after the Opp-osition MPs raised the issue of the maths paper being “tough” and “leaked”, the government on Wednesday assured the Lok Sabha that the issue would be probed.
RSP MP N.K. Premchandran raised the issue during Zero Hour, saying most of the students came out with tears in their eyes after they found the Maths paper “too tough and lengthy” to answer. He also alleged that the question papers in some areas were being sold a day ahead of the examination, and was also available in messaging service “WhatsApp”. “Tens of tho-usands of CBSE students were adversely affected by the mathematics paper as 80 per cent of the questions were very difficult and also out of syllabus,” he said.
Congress MP K.C. Venugopal said most questions of the mathematics paper were “very difficult” and out of syllabus. He referred to media reports that claimed that the questions were leaked in Patna region. “While many bright students in southern India found the questions very tough, on the other hand, they were leaked in north India. There was a conspiracy behind it and the HRD ministry should intervene,” Mr Venugopal said.
BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri sought to put the blame on the previous UPA government, saying “they set up a system which tries to suppress bright Indian students under the American pressure”.
While the Union HRD minister Smriti Irani was not in the House, Union minister for parliamentary affairs M. Venkaih Naidu said such an issue has “nothing to do with this side or that side”, but concerns the students. “The matter deserves enquiry. I will refer it to the HRD ministry. I assure that the issue will be probed,” Mr Naidu said.
