The CBI has decided to conduct lie-detection (polygraph) test on Peter Mukerjea in connection with its probe into the murder of his step-daughter Sheena Bora.

According to sources, the agency has received the nod from a special court here to subject Peter to polygraph tests, which the agency wants to complete in the next couple of days as his remand expires on Monday. Peter has also given his consent to the agency to conduct the test on him, they added.

Meanwhile, Peter was quizzed at the agency headquarters here on Friday for nearly six hours, with the questioning focused on whether funds allegedly siphoned-off from the media house founded by him and Indrani Mukerjea were parked in an overseas account of Sheena Bora resulted in a dispute between Indrani and her daughter. Sources said the agency sleuths confronted Peter with the income-tax returns filed by him and Indrani to ascertain their various investments in India and abroad. The CBI may take assistance of the Enforcement Directorate in the case, they added.

However, sources clarified that at this stage it is difficult to nail any one possible motive behind Sheena’s murder. Sheena (24), Indrani’s daughter from an earlier marriage, was allegedly killed by her mother, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver Shyamvar Rai in April 2012.

While seeking the custody of Peter from Mumbai special court, the CBI on Thursday claimed that he has told the agency that accounts might have been opened in the name of Sheena by Indrani in banks in Hongkong and Singapore. The CBI also told the court that the “money siphoned off from INX (in which Peter and Indrani were partners) dealings was routed to Sheena Bora’s HSBC account in Singapore.” The reports of Serious Fraud Investigation Office and income-tax and documents of chartered accountants substantiate the above facts, the CBI said while seeking Peter’s remand.
