After some files, purpotedly linked to the fodder scam, went missing from high-security secretariat in Patna, the BJP on Wednesday used the incident to attack Nitish Kumar-led coalition government claiming that the state government has become a “protector of crime and criminals”. The BJP said the incident shows how power was being used to bury the cases related to the scandal, in which RJD supremo Lalu Prasad has been convicted.
The party further alleged that the incident in one of many issues the state has been facing eversince the JD(U)-RJD-Congress government came to power.
Taking a dig at the chief minister over his election slogan “Bihar is for Biharis”, Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy said it now seems like “Bihar is for criminals,” adding that a number of cases involving the ruling JD(U) and RJD leaders had been surfacing.
“There were many cases registered in the fodder scam. It seems that the government’s power is being used to bury those cases one-by-one,” he said.
Citing official figures, he claimed over 46,000 criminal cases have been registered in the state between January-March and heinous crimes like murder, rape and kidnapping have been on a rise. He also cited a number of cases of extortion calls made to doctors, some of whom were attacked too, and criminal charges against the ruling coalition lawmakers.
“Files linked to fodder scam have gone missing indicates that the power is being used to capture the system, to finish off cases against those being part of power,” said the minister.
