The Bhartiya Janata Party will launch its four Parivartan Yatras in Uttar Pradesh in the first week of October from Saharanpur, Sonebhadra, Lalitpur and Ballia district. The yatras will continue for 100 days before converging into a rally in Lucknow.
Top party leaders, including BJP president Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Manohar Parrikar and other Union ministers, will be addressing meetings during the four yatras at different places. The yatras hope to connect with each of the estimated 52,000 panchayats in the state and also hold a meeting at the booth levels. Meetings of youth and women will also be held in all the districts.
With the changing political situation in the state — particularly after the recent crisis in the ruling Samajwadi party — the BJP is now banking heavily on its organisational machinery to mobilise voters and position the party as the best viable political alternative in UP.
The BJP has skirted the issue of naming a chief ministerial candidate but it will make sure it presents a galaxy of leaders with a united face in the elections so that reports of factionalism in the state unit die a natural death.
“With PM Narendra Modi’s image, the developmental work of his government and unity among leaders, we are confident of scoring points over the Samajwadi Party and the BSP, which is facing loss of voters and supporters,” said a party functionary.
