While the NDA criticised the state government for neglecting the development of Bihar, leaders of the Grand Alliance on Friday slammed the Opposition party and said “BJP’s claims have been exposed after Niti Aayog placed Bihar on top of all the other states”.

Claiming that “Nitish Kumar model of development” was taking Bihar towards becoming a fastest growing economy in the country, leaders of grand secular alliance said the report has motivated them to continue working for the development of the state.

When asked about his reaction on the Niti Aayog report, chief minister Nitish Kumar said, “Our claims stands vindicated after Niti Aayog placed us on top of all the other states, my government worked hard for the development of the state. It was the BJP which tried to win by their negative campaign against my government”.

According to National Institution for Transforming India (Niti) Aayog Bihar’s growth rate was recorded as 17.6 per cent which was higher than other developed or developing states like Madhya Pradesh and Maharastra. Madhya Pradesh is closely following Bihar with 16.86 per cent and Maharastra has emerged as the third in the list with growth rate of 11.86 per cent.

“Despite all their claims and promises all BJP ruled states are lagging behind, they should first look at their own house before criticising others”, JD(U) spokesperson Niraj Kumar said in reaction to BJP’s claims that the increased growth rate was the result of Jitan Ram Manjhi’s efforts when he was the chief minister of Bihar.

Meanwhile, the Bihar government on Friday adopted CM Nitish Kumar’s seven point determination as the state policy. During his assembly election campaign, Mr Kumar had promised to work for development of Bihar through his seven-point determination.
