Ignoring the widespread criticism against him, RJD chief Lalu Yadav continues to interfere in the day-to-day functioning of the state government despite the fact that he doesn’t hold any position in it other than being a chief of his party, which is an important partner of the Grand Secular Alliance government in Bihar.
He stirred a row once again after a letter from Darbhanga civil surgeon Shriram Singh to Darbhanga Medical College Hospital superintendent surfaced on Tuesday stating that Mr Yadav has asked him to report back with the information regarding why “Mamata health workers were removed from the hospital”.
Though the civil surgeon was not available for comments on his letter, the Opposition attacked the government and asked chief minister Nitish Kumar to explain whether there were two power centres in the state”.
While referring to his recent “surprise inspection” to top health institute Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences and then a letter to Darbhanga civil surgeon seeking clarification from him, Opposition leaders, while terming Mr Yadav “Super CM”, said, “Lalu Yadav is using his clout and Nitish Kumar is silently watching as he continues to interfere in the day-to-day functioning of the state government.” Former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi, who sat on a day-long dharna against the state’s policy on the issue of farmers, said, “He is silent only to remain in power.”
