BJP president Amit Shah said on Saturday that the “bua-bhatija (aunt-nephew)” government can never ensure the development of Uttar Pradesh.

Mr Shah was referring to BSP president Mayawati whom chief minister Akhilesh Yadav refers to as his bua (aunt).

He said that SP and BSP served as crutches for the UPA government for ten years and cannot escape the blame of the corruption and scams that took place during UPA rule.

Mr Shah said that the Congress and the JD(U) were campaigning in UP, but were not in positions to form a government.

Mr Shah was addressing a social media conference here on Saturday when he said the dependence on print and electronic media was over as social media could carry news to the rural interiors within minutes. “You are the cyber sena of the BJP and it is your duty to carry our achievements, the message of our leaders and the failures of the Opposition to the people through the social media. If you remain active, there will be no worries about our coverage in the media,” he said.

“Our biggest achievement is that in the past two-and-a-half years, there has not been a single blot of corruption on our government,” he added.
